We recently showed our support for Armed Forces Week and our strategic charity partner SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity who provide vital support to help support the independence and dignity of members of the armed forces, veterans and their families, by holding an unprecedented 24 Big Brew Up events across the company!
From Bargeddie to North Somerset, London to Bradford, York to Kent, Staffordshire to Oxford and lots of places in between, our teams showed their support for the Armed Forces in our biggest ever multi-location fundraising event raising over £2400 for SSAFA!
Tim Bruce, Senior Project Manager from Asset Engineering in York said “We had a fantastic event. It was a great opportunity to support this wonderful charity and get our teams together to acknowledge and show our commitment for the Armed Forces.”
Malcolm Cameron, Hard Services Manager for FM Bradford Schools added “We are great supporters of the Armed Forces and this event gave us the perfect opportunity to support and raise awareness of SSAFA and help towards the fantastic work they are delivering across the UK.”
As well as the Big Brew Up events, Armed Forces Week saw the release of six short films highlighting the breadth and depth of our support for the armed forces. We also announced that reservists working for Amey would now receive ten days paid leave to train each year reinforcing our commitment to recruiting and supporting members of the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. This support culminated in Amey being awarded Gold status at the 2018 MOD Employer Recognition Scheme.
David Fawcett, Amey’s Group Social Value Manager said “I am always struck by the enthusiasm of our teams across the UK in supporting charities and community groups. Armed Forces Week clearly demonstrated why we were recognised in the MOD Employer Recognition Scheme and that when we all come together to support a common cause we can make a real difference!”
