Our roads are critical to the health of our economy and communities, and we’re proud to have helped you design and maintain them for decades.
Now, we’re helping you prepare for the decades ahead, helping to decarbonise infrastructure and plan for future road trends.
Our approach sees engineers, designers and consultants work with operational specialists, helping you deliver results like these:
- Saving National Highways £68m on a strategic roads project using our data-led optimised working windows solution
- Cutting costs by £3m and emissions by 43% in the UK’s first carbon-neutral road improvement project
- Reducing energy use by 75% with our innovative green street lighting approach compared to high-intensity discharge lamps
- Regulating traffic flow and reducing congestion to benefit all road users by using advanced technology in the design of the M6 J19
Continuing our progress to achieving Net Zero, our Carbon Reduction Plan details the targets and initiatives we have set.

Operations and maintenance
Together, we support economic growth, keep people moving and communities thriving
With new methods of mitigating emissions, unnecessary waste and environmental impact, we can help make your road project more sustainable.
We recently designed the ‘UK’s first’ carbon-neutral road improvement project – an £8m National Highways carriageway reconstruction in Cumbria, reducing carbon by up to 43% compared to traditional solutions and saving almost £3m.
In Staffordshire, our partnership with the County Council has seen us pioneer innovative approaches such as recovering and recycling aggregate materials from highway maintenance to save money and carbon.
To reduce costs and improve safety, we use digital solutions to automate operations. We’re also upskilling all our operatives so they have the tools to manage and maintain highways safely and more cost-effectively.
Social value and collaboration with local communities are always at the heart of our work. Working together, we can design nature-positive solutions, such as attenuation ponds, that enhance the beauty of our natural world, clean up our environment and create green spaces that improve people’s health and wellbeing each day.
