Amey, who provide highways maintenance services across Hampshire, has completed a community project for St Clare’s Pre-school in Warren Park near Havant to make their outside area more suitable and accessible for the children who attend the pre-school.
A team of five from Amey volunteered a day at the pre-school preparing and laying new tarmac and repointing other slabbed areas. This created a safer access space for the 71 children who attend the pre-school as well as make the facilities more accessible to children with additional needs and those with walking aids.
Mark Hudson, a supervisor for Amey and part of the team, said: “I am very proud of the team. Hopefully our efforts will mean that the children can now make full use of the outside area at the pre-school”.
David Ogden, Account Director for Amey, added: “Our community programme allows each of our employees to volunteer for a day with a charity or community group of their choice. Last year over 75% of our local workforce took part in a day and I expect 2015 to be no different. We were delighted to be able to assist St Clare’s Pre-school and I hope the work the team completed will help for years to come.”
Gail Young-Evans, Manager at St Clare’s Pre-school, said: “We were overwhelmed by Amey’s support. It is difficult as a small pre-school to make significant changes to our buildings and so Amey’s kind gesture has made a real difference to the facilities we can offer and will enable us to offer places to more children.”
