  • Supporting public sector clients through multiple PSDS funding rounds.
  • Providing tailored guidance, from project scoping to application development.
  • Assisting clients in aligning projects with eligibility criteria to improve funding success.
  • Developing mitigation strategies to manage risks, including funding match shortfalls.
  • Establishing clear roadmaps with clients for long-term decarbonisation efforts.

Key metrics

The scheme provides financial assistance for energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects in non-domestic public buildings, offering a critical opportunity to accelerate the journey to Net Zero.

We partner with clients to navigate these challenges.

What was the challenge?

For many public sector bodies, accessing PSDS funding can be a complex process. Identifying eligible projects, preparing applications, and meeting the technical criteria require a strategic and collaborative approach. We partner with clients to navigate these challenges, ensuring their applications are aligned with scheme requirements while offering guidance on decarbonisation priorities.

We helped them develop a robust application for PSDS funding.

How did Amey approach the problem?

One of our recent collaborations involved supporting a public sector client seeking funding to decarbonise their estate. We helped them develop a robust application for PSDS funding. Our process involved:

  1. Energy Audits – We conducted a detailed audit to identify feasible decarbonisation opportunities, including the potential use of renewable energy technologies, such as air source heat pumps and solar PV. We also considered other infrastructure upgrades such as LED lighting, cavity wall insulation and the installation of biomass boilers.
  2. Application Support – Collaborating with the client’s team, we prepared an application that met all funding requirements and provided clear evidence of the project's impact on carbon reduction. From establishing which buildings to prioritise buildings based on factors such as the age and condition of existing fossil fuel heating systems, to managing internal governance to lead the project and oversee financial and legal documents.
  3. Risk Mitigation – Recognising the risk of insufficient match funding, we proposed alternative pathways and future funding options to support the project in the long term.

We help drive progress towards their sustainability targets.

What was the outcome?

By working with clients to access PSDS funding, we help drive progress towards their sustainability targets. Our expertise ensures that even complex applications are handled with precision, giving organisations the best chance to secure the resources needed to reach Net Zero across their estates. Although the outcomes of individual projects may vary, we are committed to enabling our clients to take proactive steps towards a greener, more sustainable estate.

We understand the intricacies of PSDS funding and the challenges faced by public sector organisations. Our collaborative approach simplifies the application process and provides confidence that funding opportunities will be maximised.
