OVERVIEW

The Scotland regional hub was created with the aim of bringing all the Amey accounts across Scotland closer together. Collectively, our regional footprint covers all of Scotland through the work our 2,500 employees deliver; examining every railway asset, escorting the majority of prisoners via the criminal justice system, maintaining the strategic road network and providing facilities management services to over 40 schools.

APPROACH

The Scotland regional hub has an agreed chair and includes representatives from all Scottish accounts and enabling functions. All Business Directors are engaged with the hub through frequent strategic agreements to commit to the annual plan and offer support.

Every year, the regional hub builds an annual plan outlining their aims, objectives and key activities for the year.

During Covid-19, the regional hub team turned their attention to supporting local communities through social value activities – providing time and resources to help a variety of local groups, individuals and businesses through the pandemic.

BENEFITS

  • Collectively, the team have offered days of volunteering time to tidy up nurseries and scout halls and provided donations to local food banks, as well as face shields to local care homes and hospices. The team have also delivered vital supplies across the region to vulnerable people in need of extra support. Over £10,000 has been donated to local causes by the regional hub. The hub has also received £57,000 of external funding to donate to local care homes and hospices.
  • The hub is now working to improve links with schools and Skills Development Scotland on STEM subjects and pathways into employment for young people, the Scottish Prison Service on pathways into employment for ex-offenders, Local Authorities on collaboration of infrastructure works, and the voluntary sector for employment opportunities.
  • Through the pandemic, the team also focused on their own wellbeing and collectively organised a range of activities to build team spirit and support each other. Activities included team quizzes, competitions, learning sessions and a range of sports challenges.
