Amey hosted its first Journey to Work event in April 2022, working with Staffordshire County Council and South Staffordshire Council. More events were delivered nationally in 2022 and more planned in 2023. ​

OVERVIEW

Amey, local councils, Hays and key partners work in collaboration to deliver the recruitment events and support local people into local employment. The events also provide workshops, interview tips and guidance on job opportunities. ​

BENEFITS

  • At the first event in Staffordshire, 18% were offered jobs on the day, 36% were offered interviews/ temporary jobs and 14% were offered jobs after the event. 100% positive feedback received. ​
  • Rolled out events on a national scale, including Walsall, North Lanarkshire and Perth. More planned in 2023. ​
  • The sessions not only provide opportunities to talk to professionals about roles and applying for jobs but also provided wellbeing, financial and resilience support as well as techniques to help alleviate the stresses that unemployment and job seeking can cause.​
  • Shared good practice at the ADEPT Autumn Conference in 2022 “Collaborating to help those furthest from the labour market.”​
