We are delighted to announce Keolis and Amey have been awarded the contract to operate and maintain Dublin’s iconic Luas light rail system.
We look forward to being the custodians of the Luas and partnering with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the National Transport Authority (NTA) to deliver an exciting future for the network, its passengers and employees.
Planned improvements include enhanced services; an initial deep clean of Luas stops; the introduction of proven service delivery, operations and maintenance processes used across our other networks; and remote monitoring solutions for light rail and infrastructure to detect and prevent failures.
The contract will commence on 1st September 2026 and has a core term of seven years, with the option to extend up to a further six years.
Alistair Gordon, CEO of Keolis UK & Ireland, said: “We are excited to begin collaborating with TII and NTA and to serve the people of Dublin. We are pleased TII and NTA have placed their trust in our established joint venture to deliver service excellence across this vital part of the capital’s public transport network.
"We will bring innovation and best practice from across our existing tram and light rail operations with Amey, as well as experience from our many networks around the world.”
Andy Milner, CEO of Amey, said: “This partnership allows us to bring Amey’s full life-cycle engineering and asset management expertise to one of Europe’s most recognisable tram systems. Alongside our partners at Keolis, who bring decades of global operational experience in light rail, we are focused on strengthening the resilience of the network through smart maintenance, data-led insight and robust operations.
"We are proud to contribute to the future of the Luas by helping to deliver a system that is cleaner, more reliable and ready to support Dublin’s continued growth.”
