Amey has announced its formal entry into the nuclear sector after securing a contract to deliver facilities management and workplace maintenance across the Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) estate.

Commencing in 2026, the contract positions Amey as a key strategic partner responsible for supporting some of the UK’s most sensitive and nationally significant assets. Under the agreement, Amey will deliver a full suite of hard and soft facilities management services across 17 nuclear sites, as well as regional support offices nationwide.

NRS is responsible for safely decommissioning the UK’s first-generation civil nuclear and research facilities. Through the Workplace Services contract, Amey will provide asset maintenance, catering, cleaning, transport, administrative support, grounds maintenance, waste management, and wider infrastructure and asset care across the NRS estate.

These services are intended to transform NRS working environments while upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance. Amey’s experience in asset and facilities management across the public sector, combined with its robust national footprint, will ensure a flexible, resilient and responsive approach to the unique demands of the nuclear sector.

Craig McGilvray, Managing Director at Amey, commented: “This is a defining moment for Amey. By entering the nuclear sector, we’re bringing our proven expertise and depth of experience to uphold the stringent standards required when delivering contracts of this nature - while also driving best practice and safeguarding both people and the environment. We look forward to establishing a positive and enduring partnership with NRS, delivering lasting value through service delivery and leaving a positive legacy across the broader communities in which we will operate.”

Emma Regan – NRS Commercial Director also commented on the appointment: “We are pleased to appoint Amey as our service provider for the NRS workplace services contract.  We look forward to working with Amey to efficiently deliver a range of services that will support our mission to safely and sustainably decommission the UK’s first-generation nuclear sites, together with supporting two Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor sites which will transition to NRS stewardship over the contract duration.”

This win marks the first of an ambitious growth pipeline which targets the nuclear and energy sector.
