Amey has been awarded the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Award for ‘Excellence in Procurement’, a prestigious recognition for its outstanding performance and innovation in supply chain management.
This accolade marks a significant milestone in Amey’s journey to embed procurement at the centre of its operations, aligning commercial strategy with the business’s ESG goals to deliver lasting value for clients, suppliers, and communities.
Managing over £1.2 billion in annual spend across 4,500 suppliers, of which over 60 per cent are SMEs, Amey’s approach focuses on people, process, technology, and supply chain integration. By involving suppliers early in the bidding process, Amey co-develops competitive, achievable solutions that deliver measurable outcomes, strengthen supplier relationships, and create space for investment in innovation and decarbonisation.
Working closely with the Cabinet Office and the Supply Chain Sustainability School to share its procurement model more widely, Amey is helping to raise standards across the sector. These partnerships reflect Amey’s commitment to collaboration, ensuring that its approach benefits not only the business but also the broader infrastructure industry.
John Cully, Chief Procurement Officer for Amey, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved CIPS’s Excellence in Procurement award, a prestigious recognition of the outstanding work and dedication of our procurement teams across the business. This award reflects the hard work and commitment that has shaped our renewed vision for procurement, one that focuses on efficient delivery, strong supplier partnerships, and reinforces our ambition to set higher standards for performance and growth across the industry.”
