Amey has secured its first contract in the US market with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to deliver an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Implementation System for the Long Island Rail Road.

The $2.8m (£2m) contract with the MTA will see Amey provide a range of asset management services for the Long Island Rail Road, which stretches from Manhattan to Suffolk County in Long Island, making it one of the busiest commuter rails in North America; conducting over 900 trains each week and carrying approximately 200,000 passengers a day.

Amey’s strengths as a leading provider of data-led, integrated asset management services will be key to supporting the MTA in digitising existing paper-based processes, creating smart data visualisation dashboards for better decision making, and breaking down data siloes to create a connected data ecosystem. As part of this, the company will provide Hexagon EAM configuration services, data management and analytics, business process mapping, solution design and build, user guidance and training, and the implementation of data systems.

Andy Milner, CEO, Amey, said: “This award is a significant milestone in Amey’s journey to grow internationally, and it underscores our strategic ambition to expand into carefully selected geographies. The United States presents an exciting opportunity, with a clear and growing demand for advanced consulting, digital transformation and data analytics services that Amey is known for. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is one of the most complex and high-volume transport networks in North America, and we’re proud to be supporting the Long Island Rail Road with cutting-edge asset management solutions.

“Opening our New York office earlier this year signals our ambition to grow in the US and work more closely with our clients and partners on the ground. It's a big step forward, and one that helps us stay connected to the communities we serve. We’re excited to get started, build relationships, and demonstrate what Amey can bring to the table when it comes to smart, data-driven infrastructure services.”

This new contract announcement marks a significant milestone for Amey’s growth ambitions in the US with the company opening a new office in the New York area at the start of the year. Additionally, the news also highlights its strong commitment to international expansion with the recent announcement of Amey re-entering the Australian market with the high-profile acquisition of Premise, a full-service multidisciplinary consultancy.

Colin Wood, Managing Director, Consulting, Amey, said: “We’re delighted to be announcing our expansion into the US market with this new contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). With our extensive experience of integrated asset management and knowledge of complex operational delivery, our team is well placed to work alongside the MTA to digitalise their systems and enhance decision making. The Long Island Rail Road is a vast and historic part of New York City’s public transport system, and we’re fully committed to ensuring its efficiency, safety and longevity.”
