Leading infrastructure services and engineering company, Amey, has joined The Supply Chain Sustainability School, to work together with the wider sector to provide employees and suppliers with the knowledge to deliver a sustainable future.
Education and awareness are critical to achieving sustainability and social value targets and joining the school helps Amey reach its goals of engaging employees and suppliers to understand and embed social value throughout their procurement activity.
The School provides access to hundreds of training resources in a variety of formats to suit the needs of employees and suppliers. Topics include carbon & climate change, social value, fairness, inclusion and respect, modern slavery, people and procurement. In recent weeks nearly a thousand employees have enrolled on courses ranging from Climate Change to Inclusion.
To further encourage and incentivise employees to raise their own awareness and participate in continued development, Amey has this year linked completion of some of the School’s training to the bonus scheme for senior managers. Amey is well placed to help drive equality of opportunity through inclusive procurement and this partnership will give its supply chain access to information around the latest cross industry issues and requirements.
John Boyle, Head of Procurement, Amey, commented, “Amey is proud of its relationship with The Supply Chain School and the partnership is an opportunity to support the development of our supplier base who are key to us delivering our sustainability and social value targets.”
Shaun McCarthy OBE, Director at The Supply Chain School, commented, “I am delighted to welcome Amey to the School and I have been impressed with their passion to get involved in all aspects of our work. Given the wide diversity of services they offer I am sure they will make a valuable contribution.”
A focus on working collectively with stakeholders across its core sectors forms a key part of Amey’s Bolder Steps Together strategy, that sees Amey aim to achieve new levels of sustainability and social value across its operations.
