Employees from leading public service provider, Amey, have raised £52,000 for employee chosen charity, Cancer Research UK, as they reach the six-month mark of their partnership.
Last October Amey announced employees had chosen Cancer Research UK to be its employee chosen charity for a two-year period. Amey set a target of fundraising £200,000 across the two years and to support this goal, identified a full suite of opportunities for employees and partners to take part in.
One of the fundraising initiatives, Walk All Over Cancer, has helped Amey hit the £50,000 fundraising mark thanks to 155 employees raising more than £28,000. To take part employees pledged to walk 10,000 steps every day in March.
Clare Lappin, Partnerships Manager at Cancer Research UK, commented: “We’ve been so touched with how Amey employees have embraced our charity partnership, and particularly blown away with the recent success of their Walk All Over Cancer challenge, raising vital funds to help fund our life-saving work. . We’re so grateful for Amey’s support and congratulate them on the wonderful milestone of raising £50,000 in just six months.”
David Fawcett, Social Value Manager, commented: “I firstly want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in Walk All Over Cancer, and all of the other fundraising initiatives we’ve put forward over the last six months. Never in my dreams did I think we would smash our initial target for Walk All Over Cancer and go on to raise such a huge amount in a short period of time. I’m really proud of all of Amey’s wonderful employees and looking forward to seeing what we can achieve during the rest of the partnership.”
Amey’s partnership with Cancer Research UK focuses on three core strands: raising awareness of cancer, fundraising and volunteer work. This will help Amey employees have the information they need to be aware of their own and others health, as well as helping Cancer Research UK continue its work to beat cancer.
