David Ogden appointed as CIHT Council member

Amey’s Business Director for Transport InfrastructureDavid Ogden, has been appointed as Chartered Institution for Highways and Transport (CIHT) Council Member for 2020-21, following an announcement at the annual general meeting. 

David joins the Council as a Nominated Member following voting taking place back in May this year. In this new position, David will be involved in an array of decision making as well as offering strategic and professional direction for the Institution.  

David commented on his position, saying: “I’m thrilled to have been voted onto the CHIT Council as a Nominated Member. CIHT offers industry insight and is at the forefront of offering strategic support to the highways and transportation sectors. I’m looking forward to working with the other council members to support our sectors realise the opportunities and tackle the challenges that we face over the coming months and years.” 

Martin Tugwell, President, CIHT, said: “As a sector, highways and transportation faces a challenging year ahead.  The experience and skills that CIHT members bring are crucial in ensuring that the sector supports economic recovery and takes into account the need to make real progress in addressing the climate change emergency.   

“CIHT will continue to provide leadership for the sector and support for our members. Whilst times are challenging, CIHT has a solid foundation from which to build from, and our members contribution to Council will be central to that.” 

The CIHT Council is made up of a number of different roles. There is a President, two Vice Presidents, three Immediate Past Presidents, an Honorary Treasurer, twelve Ordinary Members, twelve Regional Members, a Republic of Ireland Member, up to eight Nominated Members and a Society of Road Safety Auditor (SoRSA) representative.
