We’re delighted that two of Amey’s Defence contracts have been recognised in the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) Awards 2020, recognising the strong, collaborative relationship that exists between Amey, our client the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), and our partners.

The prestigious event, hosted at the Landsdowne Club, in London on 10th December, recognises diverse and collaborative relationships and provided the perfect opportunity to share some great examples of collaborative working in action, particularly during times of crisis. Each submission was carefully scored against a measurable set of criteria which focused on joint working, leadership, innovation, cultural and behavioural change and a shared goal of continuous improvement.

In our Regional Prime South East contract, Amey and DIO teams were announced as winners of the Social Impact/Sustainability award where the judges were impressed by the implementation of the ‘Setting the Conditions of Success’ programme, a roadmap agreed by the senior management of both organisations to embed collaborative working across the contract. Events and activities included joint fundraising, a volunteer event to repaint the Welfare facilities at Hyde Park Barracks and the successful completion of a bespoke decorating programme for Army units in London’s Wellington Barracks and Horseguards. There was also recognition of care taken to minimise the impact of projects on wildlife (nesting birds and bats) to minimise the disposal of waste to landfill and a sustainability pilot at RAF Benson. Collaboration has been the key to all these achievements.

At MOD Whitehall, the Greater MODUS team was successful in the Service Sector category. Greater MODUS is an alliance between Amey, Skanska (Hard FM provider) and MODUS (Special Purpose Vehicle) and the judges were keen to recognise how this tri-party relationship has worked with DIO to build a strong, open and trusting relationship. Having achieved a successful Partnership Accreditation with DIO in 2017, the team formalised the relationship by jointly achieving ISO44001 collaborative working certification in 2019. The team has continued to establish a unique approach to delivering the Government's Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA), the centre of expertise for infrastructure and major projects, and by engaging with senior leaders, organising joint training courses and challenging behaviours. They have developed a diverse and skilled workforce that is ready to meet the challenges over the next ten years to contract end.

Tim Redfern, Managing Director Defence said: “We are delighted that two Amey Defence teams have been recognised at the 2020 Institute for Collaborative Working Awards.  It is further recognition of the outstanding service that we continue to deliver in Regional Prime South East and in MOD Whitehall in our MODUS contract with our DIO and Defence colleagues.  Well done to all those involved.”
