Commenting on his new role, Peter added: “I am really pleased to be joining the Amey Consulting team at a very exciting time, where new technologies like Connected Autonomous Vehicles and Mobility as a Service have the potential to revolutionise transport in the UK.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peter, tell us a little bit more about your background?

I have over thirty years’ experience in the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) field and bring extensive experience in systems development, project management and operational delivery of ITS solutions and services. Through my work with national (both in the UK and overseas) and local highways authorities, I understand the challenges they face in an increasingly dynamic transport sector.

What does Mobility mean to Amey?

Mobility in its widest sense is the ability to move freely. In transportation, it is about removing or reducing barriers to movement, for both people and freight. Therefore, as a designer and operator of transport networks, we must look for solutions that enable a journey to be undertaken seamlessly.

This is a new role for Amey Consulting, what do you see as your main areas of focus?

Initially my main areas of focus are to understand the great work that is already been done within Amey and our parent company Ferrovial (for example, as part of the Midlands Future Mobility CAV testbed - which will offer 80 kilometres of urban roads in Coventry and Birmingham in a world-leading connected infrastructure and ecosystem) and to work with colleagues to understand how the skills and expertise of Amey Consulting can contribute to innovative mobility solutions.

What excites you most about this role and the mobility industry?

I’m excited about playing a part in developing mobility solutions that are safer, smarter and greener for travellers and operators alike.
