Leading infrastructure services provider Amey has won two national Human Resources awards for their commitment to ensuring HR skills and services match those needed by Amey now and in the future.
Not only did Amey win the ‘Building HR Capability’ category at the prestigious CIPD People Management Awards 2011 but were also named overall winner from 250 entrants. The CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development - Europe's largest HR professional institute) People Management Awards are the leading HR Awards within the UK, and recognise outstanding achievement in HR, people management and development and the contribution that HR makes to business sustainability and success. The CIPD Judges recognised Amey’s flexible and efficient HR strategy, which has benefited the company’s overall business performance.
This award win is the third HR award Amey has won this year; having been awarded ‘Team of the Year’ at the prestigious Employee Benefits Awards 2011, and the award for ‘Most Successful Change Management Programme’ at the National HR Excellence Awards 2011.
With nearly 12,000 employees, Amey delivers a wide range of HR projects; last year the HR team TUPE transferred over 2,000 employees into the company from more than 25 different organisations. On the £2.7bn Birmingham Highways Maintenance and Management Service contract alone, 250 employees TUPE transferred from Birmingham City Council to Amey and 300 jobs were directly created.
Valerie Hughes-D’Aeth, Group HR Director at Amey said: “Our people are instrumental in delivering efficiencies and improving services to our customers. We are delighted that our commitment to building a strong HR capability to support the business has been recognised in these prestigious awards.”
