Herefordshire Council has signed a new agreement with its contractors Amey which will save £1million per year whilst also improving roads maintenance and delivering environmental benefits.
The agreement covers the highways, parks and public rights of way services, and sets Amey stretching targets to achieve to ensure the quality of services delivered to Herefordshire residents is improved.
Councillor Roger Phillips, Leader of Herefordshire Council, said, “Our partnership with Amey has secured £1million in savings as well as improvements to road repairs, a commitment to local jobs and action to protect and improve our local environment.
Chief Executive of Amey, Mel Ewell, said “Amey is extremely pleased to be building on our long term partnership with Herefordshire Council. The new integrated contract will achieve efficiency savings of up to £1million per annum.
“In addition to offering a value for money service we are committed to working with the Council to make Herefordshire a more sustainable and attractive community to invest in.“
