Today on International Women’s Day, Amey is joining people around the world to #ChoosetoChallenge.
To mark the day itself, employees across the business are sharing their personal pledges on how they will help address gender bias and inequity in the workplace.
The service provider’s Women@Amey network is also sharing a recent online workshop for children, which introduced them to female role models in the industry.
Families all over the UK joined the online 30minute workshop with Amey’s very own recycling hero, Emilie Knight, who took participants through the journey of our rubbish and shared a fun art project, re-using common household items to make a fabulous gift for Mother’s Day or Easter.
Today, participants are sharing their craft creations on social media with the hashtag #AmeyED. The workshop is also available to watch back on YouTube and is suited most to 7-11year olds.
Helen Townend, Technical Director for Amey’s Consulting business and chair of the Women@Amey network, said: “International Women’s Day is one day in the year where we celebrate successes and role model available possibilities, but it also provides a platform where we can take stock, review our progress towards equity and assess our next steps.
“We need to be brave and challenge inequity wherever we see it, working to impact change within our personal zone of influence. It is up to us as individuals to progress change, to learn how we can be an ally to those around us, empowering others and ourselves to become the best version of ourselves”
Amey set up the Women@Amey network to help attract more women into the industry and support development of women in all levels of the business.
Amey provides a broad range of support to help women at Amey to achieve their potential including mentoring, coaching, professional qualifications, leadership programmes, and both internal and external secondments.
In addition, its talent process specifically highlights both high performing and women to watch.
