Thames Tideway Tunnel

As the Systems Integrator, our role is critical in the achievement of the core objectives for the Tideway Tunnel, from commencement of design through to completion of the full tunnel system commissioning. We are responsible for ensuring that the tunnel is visible, manageable and safe to operate through a top-level SCADA system, referred to as LTT SCADA.

Problem statement

The London sewage system was constructed in the 19th century and has served the capital well over the last 150 years.  However, the size and population of London has expanded significantly over the decades and the sewage network has reached breaking point. The provision of the new Tideway and Lee Tunnels (London Tideway Tunnels/LTT), and their effective use, will ensure that the capital can once again re-connect with the River Thames and enjoy the facilities that it provides.    


We are responsible for ensuring that the tunnel is visible, manageable and safe to operate. This is realised using a top-level SCADA system, referred to as LTT SCADA. We are working collaboratively with the clients and stakeholders to form close engagement; this proactive approach empowered our team to exercise maximum flexibility to accommodate changing client requirements. We de-composed the whole project plan into a set of gates with defined outcomes. This approach has effectively minimised overall delivery risks while maximized fit-for-purpose. 

In a project of this magnitude and duration, change management is key to achieving successful outcomes.  Rigour has been embedded into the teams to ensure that change can be effectively managed without compromising the site integration process.


We are providing process control, communication equipment and software systems for operation, maintenance and reporting across the Thames Tideway Tunnel system ensuring compliancy with ISO27001 & CPNI guidelines. Our modular and configurable software design and delivery allowed us to significantly reduce the delivery timescale for deployment at the same time enabled scalability.
