Amey Consulting receives Sword of Honour award for health and safety

22 November 2019
Amey Consulting has been awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour award for its commitment to Health and Safety management from the British Safety Council.

Amey Consulting is one of 84 organisations worldwide that achieved the Sword of Honour, which is given to organisations that demonstrate excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work.

Assessments were made on various aspects of safety including the mental wellbeing of employees, as well as successful organisations achieving the mandatory maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s audit scheme for the award.

Commenting on the award, Alex Gilbert, Managing Director of Amey Consulting, said:

We are thrilled to be recognised for our ongoing efforts towards a harm free operating environment for our employees and those affected by our work.

Whilst we are very proud to be recognised amongst the best, we are mindful that our journey is continuous and recognise that we cannot rest until we reach our goal of zero harm every day.”

Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate Amey Consulting on achieving the very highest standards of health, safety and environmental management.  Excellence at this level is very hard won. We are proud to have supported you in your achievements, and I am delighted that you have chosen to celebrate it with us today.”

The sword of honour is testament to Amey’s core value of putting people first’. In 2016 Amey’s Consulting and Rail business unit achieved the Sword of Honour award and in 2018, Amey began its Target Zero campaign, with the aim of reaching a zero Lost Time Injury Incident Rate by 2021.
