Award success for Amey at Third Sector Business Charity Awards

Amey’s Customer Service Manager, David Fawcett, has won the “Outstanding Employee” category at the Third Sector Business Charity Awards 2017 for his role in promoting and delivering Amey’s community involvement activities in Hampshire.

Hampshire born David’s passion for social value has transformed Amey’s charity and social commitments in Hampshire, and beyond, over the last four years. Creating a socially-focused culture within the contract team, corporate social responsibility is now a reality with Amey’s 200 employees in Hampshire. The team have supported 26 different charities and social enterprises through 400 volunteering days and various fundraising events.

David has promoted Amey’s apprenticeship programme, welcoming over 30 young people to Amey, targeted areas of high unemployment and organised placements for people with disabilities, hard to reach groups and ex-offenders. Additionally, David has organised two charity bike rides to raise vital funds for Naomi House Children’s Hospice and the Rainbow Centre.

David Fawcett said: “I am very honoured, proud and shocked to have won this award. It is a wonderful acknowledgement of the commitment our whole team in Hampshire makes to support community and charity activities to make a difference to people’s lives.”

In 2016, David won the Individual Corporate Leadership award at the National CSR Award, while Amey’s team in Hampshire have won six awards for their commitment to the local community and social activities in the last three years.

Amey’s highways teams in Kent, Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Staffordshire were also shortlisted in the “CSR Team of the Year” category at the Third Sector Business Charity Awards, in recognition of their support in their local communities.
