This Christmas, the One Trafford Partnership is donating over 100 real Christmas trees to community groups, friends of parks groups, schools and charities across Trafford.

The trees were collected from a local event and instead of simply chipping them for recycling, One Trafford is donating them to community focused organisations who may want to use them as part of their Christmas celebrations. Organisations which have already reserved a tree include Gorgeous Gorse Hill, A Star Community Care and the Toy House.

Councillor Reilly, Executive Member for Economic Growth, Environment and Infrastructure at Trafford Council said:

“Christmas is about giving back, so we are very excited to be able to donate 100 Christmas trees to community focused organisations that will make a real difference to those who need it most.”

“There are only a few trees left, so in order to manage expectations, interested groups should contact the One Trafford Partnership on 03330 035 865 to reserve a tree, which will be available for collection up until 2 December.”

Dot Horan from A Star Community Care in Urmston added:

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for people; it waves a magic wand over everywhere. The little extra in our supported living house will without any doubt be a lovely 8ft Christmas tree decorated and twinkling lights. The service users that live in the house will be made up with such an amazing feature.”

The trees are offered for free on a first come first served basis but must be reserved before collection. Any trees which don’t find a home after this date will be recycled.
