Facilities at The Rowans Hospice recently underwent an upgrade thanks to help from two organisations, Amey and Wilson and Scott.

A team of 21 employees from Amey spent a day at the Hospice painting an internal room and providing vital maintenance to the grounds to make them more accessible for staff and patients. Whilst three employees from Wilson and Scott renewed the white lining and markings in the car park to make the outside areas safer to use.

Hayley Hamlett, Volunteer Services Manager at The Rowans Hospice, commented: “Our thanks to the team of volunteers from Amey and Wilson and Scott, we are all extremely grateful. The seminar room looks so much better, and everyone was keen and determined to do as much as possible. Some of the team even put up our Christmas tree – so thoughtful!”

Every Amey employee can spend a day volunteering with a charity or community group of their choice as part of its community engagement programme. Over 60% of Amey’s local workforce in Hampshire has used their day during 2015 to make a difference to the local community.

David Fawcett, Customer Services Manager for Amey, said: “We were delighted to assist The Rowans Hospice and hopefully both the staff and patients will benefit from the work completed. Our employees always enjoy taking part in community projects and this activity in particular has proved very rewarding for all those involved. We were very pleased to be joined by Wilson and Scott who proved invaluable in improving the white lining in the Hospice car park.”

The day was suggested by Amey employee Tony Davies, and completed in partnership with one of Amey’s suppliers, Wilson and Scott.

Chris Warren, Contracts Manager for Wilson and Scott, added: “It was a pleasure to join Amey on this wonderful project for The Rowans Hospice to help the Hospice continue their vital work for the local community who need their support.”

Amey delivers highways and winter maintenance services on behalf of Hampshire County Council.
