Recognised for its leadership in delivering cutting edge environmental and sustainability solutions, Amey is to play a key role supporting Network Rail’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy and delivering its vision of serving the nation with the cleanest, greenest mass transport.
As part of its North West and Central Region Environmental and Professional Services Framework, Amey’s expertise will support Network Rail’s drive to reduce emissions, improve biodiversity, reduce waste and maximise the recycling and re-use of resources across the full lifecycle of their programmes. It will also support Network Rail to deliver a railway that is reliable and resilient to climate change.
Amey’s involvement will extend across capital delivery as well as wider programmes and teams. Key focus areas include upgrades and renewals for signalling schemes, new station builds and other multi-discipline enhancements and upgrades. Delivered over a three-year timeframe, Amey’s role will extend to working in partnership with key stakeholders including HS2 and train and freight operating companies.
Welcoming Amey’s appointment to this important framework, Amey’s Managing Director for Consulting, Alex Gilbert said:
“This appointment recognises Amey’s expertise in delivering market-leading environmental and sustainability solutions, and the critical role we can play in creating a greener and cleaner rail network.
“We look forward to supporting Network Rail to maximise sustainability across its North West and Central Region and to deliver against its environmental and biodiversity goals.”

It has already been appointed to its Capital Delivery, Engineering and Construction Services, and Programme and Project Management frameworks.
