Amey names new Business Director for Metro and Light Rail

Amey announced today that it is has bolstered its Rail Team following the appointment Andy Slater as Business Director for Metro and Light Rail.

Formerly the Director of International Rolling Stock for Eurostar, Andy took up the role at the end of October, marking Amey’s commitment to positioning itself as a market leader in Metro and Light Rail, through both its standalone work with London Underground and the continuing partnership with Keolis in the management of the Docklands Light Railway, as well as future metro interests.

Nicola Hindle, Managing Director of Amey’s Consulting and Rail business, said: “We are delighted to have Andy on board to drive our growth in what is a significant area of opportunity for Amey. His understanding of rolling stock operation and performance both here and overseas will be an invaluable addition in helping our customers make smart asset management decisions.”

Commenting on his new role, Andy said: “Light rail and metro is new ground for me, and that brings challenge, opportunity and excitement to be involved in different operations and pursue the possibilities and options for demonstrating what Amey can do in these markets, both in the UK and overseas.

“We need more collaborative multi-modal transport system, that enables people to remove stress points in their journeys and rail - including light rail and metro - has a core part to play in that strategy.”

Andy has also acted as Operations Director for Railcare and Head of Engineering for Alstom, He has helped introduce and transform fleet across commuter rail services for London Midland and Southeaster, mainline operations for Virgin West Coast Pendelino fleet and Eurostar’s high-speed service.

During his time with Eurostar, Andy oversaw year on year performance improvements across key areas such as safety, reliability and financial performance as well as employee engagement.
