From April 2017, leading engineering and consultancy firm, Amey will be responsible for designing maintenance and improvement schemes for nearly 840 miles of strategic road network in the north after being awarded two new contracts with Highways England.

Worth up to £38m over 5 years the contracts are part of Highways England’s Asset Delivery Contract which brings together a maintenance and response contractor, Construction Works Framework contractors and Amey as Design Consultant – creating a collaborative community responsible for delivering exceptional services for Highways England’s customers across Areas 13 and 14.

Nicola Hindle, Amey’s Managing Director for Consulting and Rail said:

“Our consulting team works on vital infrastructure projects all across the UK, and overseas, and are tasked to deliver lasting road safety and economic benefits through exceptional design.

Being awarded these contracts is testament to the strength of our relationship with Highways England and their trust in our ability to provide outstanding service as well as our global consulting expertise. We are delighted to be working with them and partners to help create better journeys across the north.”

Highways England executive director for commercial and procurement David Poole said: “The awarding of these four new contracts builds on the new way of working already taking place in the East Midlands and is a real change in the way we have previously operated the network.

“These contracts demonstrate our commitment to increasing capability and understanding within Highways England and bringing Highways England closer to our customers.
