Leading public and regulated services provider Amey, has been recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, which was announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards in Birmingham.
The list, which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service and City and Guilds, recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices as well as organisations that ensure their apprentices become successful and inspirational role models.
This year alone Amey has already recruited nearly 100 apprentices onto its emerging talent programmes, which includes the opportunity for apprentices to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. The Award helps to further develop skills for life and work, such as teamwork, communication and leadership skills.
Ian Deninson, Group HR and Communications Director said: “We recognise the importance of providing Apprenticeships to young people to support their career and personal development, as well as helping us to create a highly skilled workforce for the future.
“At Amey, we place a huge emphasis on ensuring we recruit talented people into the business and then growing that talent in our organisation. We are delighted to be named as one of the UK’s leading employers of apprentices.”
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg congratulated Amey on being named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer: “This year’s Top 100 Apprenticeship employers have demonstrated the huge impact on the young people they invest in and the many benefits for their organisations.
“Apprentices help employers develop a skilled and qualified workforce to build a stronger economy, whilst creating a fairer society where young people can get on and go far in some of Britain’s best companies.
“I would encourage more businesses across England to follow these shining examples and find out how apprenticeships can help them build a skilled, motivated and highly qualified workforce.”
CEO and Director General of City & Guilds, Chris Jones, said: “It’s fantastic to celebrate the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers. They should be proud of their role in helping people gain the skills they need to be successful. After all, apprenticeships are a great way for people to earn as they learn, and they bring countless benefits to businesses.”
Amey is also the only company in its sector to be awarded Investors in People Gold and Champion status for the way it manages, engages and motivates its employees.
