AmeySECO has been chosen by Network Rail to be one of their four track renewals partners. The contract for plain line and switches & crossing track renewals, is worth in the region of £95 million per annum and stretches from the West Country through to the Thames Valley (including Marylebone) and up into the West Midlands (including Birmingham New Street).
This contract builds on the success of the AmeySECO joint venture, which has been in operation for ten years, delivering plain line track renewals in the West Region. As part of the review process AmeySECO were measured across a number of key areas including safety records, volumes achieved, finishing jobs on time, unit costs and business behaviours.
Peter Henderson, Network Rail Group Director, Infrastructure, commented: “By making these changes, Network Rail aims to achieve significant improvements in the delivery of our track renewals programme. By aligning plain line track renewals and switchings and crossings renewals, and by working closely with our suppliers, we can deliver much improved quality, safety and efficiency.
Charles-Albert Giral, Chairman of AmeySECO commented, “The announcement that AmeySECO is to remain one of Network Rail’s leading partners with an extended area of operation is excellent news. Building on the success of our existing work with Network Rail, we have developed ideas for a number of new solutions that will enable us to improve output and service delivery and play our part in delivering a rail network fit for the 21st century. AmeySECO will continue to invest in its people, plant and technology to support Network Rail in achieving its renewals rates, improving efficiencies and delivering cost savings.”
