Well done to our teams at RMA Sandhurst who reacted quickly when a leak was discovered at midday on the Friday of the Bank Holiday weekend that shut down the heating and hot water supply to New College Sandhurst – home to 250 cadets.
While the cadets were away for the weekend, the Amey team and contractors, JFK, worked urgently, collaboratively and effectively to identify the leak and conduct a full assessment of the repair for excavation and welding to be carried out quickly and safely – all in time for the return of the cadets on Monday morning.
John Riley, Amey’s Operations Director, RPSE, commented, “I commend the professionalism and dedication of the team. It was quickly realised that unless they resolved the leak there would be a negative impact on training for a large number of cadets returning from leave and about to undergo intense training. Through their quick actions not only was an effective and enduring repair completed in time it also avoided the need to bring in temporary boilers so saving Defence money and preventing further disruption for their installation and later removal. An outstanding performance and excellent result!”
