Martina Allaman, Amey’s Delivery Manager, was delighted to receive an invite from Air Vice-Marshal Gillespie CBE MA BSc, to attend the official opening of RAF Northolt’s brand new on-site café in recognition of the strong, collaborative skills she showed when managing this ambitious and important project.
Working to a strict deadline of just 23 weeks, Martina oversaw all works on-site and collaborated with four separate sub-contractors in order to meet the strict deadline of 24th May 2021. Many of the materials used were imported from Europe and delivered through the COVID pandemic, so Martina worked closely with our supply chain to minimise any potential delays, organise deliveries and ensure each stage of the project was agreed and signed off by the RAF.
Thanks to Martina’s diligence and her strong, collaborative working relationship with the RAF, sub-contractors, soft FM providers and our client, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the Junior Ranks at RAF Northolt, from all 3 Services, can now enjoy the 1915 Café, named after the date when RAF Northolt was established. The facility includes a separate coffee shop and an events room with a state of the art sound system and beautiful aesthetics that will allow Service personnel to take some down-time in a relaxed environment.
Martina said, “I was honoured to be asked to provide a short overview of the project at the opening event and meet Air vice-marshal Gillespie as he undertook his annual site inspection. This exciting new facility will enhance the lived experience of the Junior Ranks at RAF Northolt.”
Wing Commander Claire Adamson, said, “I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all of your hard work to get the project finished on time – what a great achievement and I really do not underestimate the time spent to enable this. Thank you and sincerely thank you again for making a better space for the Junior Ranks and the Whole Force.”
