The One Trafford Partnership have announced the highways capital programme of 27 resurfacing schemes.

Resurfacing schemes are due to begin over the next six months to support essential travel and to protect the condition of the roads. Schemes include locations such as Glebelands Road in Sale, Flixton Road in Partington, Roaring Gate Lane in Hale, and Great Stone Road in Gorse Hill.

Whilst traffic continues to be at a reduced level as people stay and work at home, repairs to some of Trafford’s busiest roads have already begun. One Trafford, a collaboration between Trafford Council and Amey, have completed essential resurfacing along a section of Manchester Road (A56) in Altrincham, Barton Road in Trafford Park, Warwick Drive in Davyhulme and Balmoral Road in Flixton.

To ensure works are completed safely, additional measures are in place to further protect teams working on-site. Teams have been provided with additional PPE, whilst their vehicles are fully stocked with hand sanitiser. The two-metre distance is also being adhered to on-site between staff and any members of the passing public.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Air Quality, and Climate Change, said: “Despite the initial impact of Covid-19 on the design and delivery of the programme, we’ve been working hard to deliver essential maintenance. Whilst building up the programme of schemes, the highways also completed some patching works across the borough. Now, the new, upcoming resurfacing schemes will provide vital protection to Trafford’s road network to ensure that the travelling public can make their essential journeys safely – whether you’re on foot, bicycle or in the car.”

“Any residents or businesses who may be affected by upcoming roadworks will be contacted directly by the highways team. Residents may receive a letter with details of individual schemes on their road or in some cases, a visit from a member of staff. Any diversions or temporary traffic lights will be signposted ahead of scheduled scheme start date so that everyone can plan their journeys.”
