With Armed Forces Day taking place this weekend, we are pleased to have further strengthened links with the Armed Forces by partnering with the Open University with the aim of supporting disabled individuals injured in or due to military service as they look to forge new careers in the civilian world.
There are more than 2.6 million veterans living in the UK and finding a second career when they leave their Forces family can be extremely daunting, even more so if they’ve suffered injury as a result of serving their country.
The Disabled Veterans’ Scholarship Fund (DVSF) provides free education and a wraparound disability and careers support service and is the first of its kind in the UK. It enables disabled veterans to study for free and receive specialist disability support and careers advice helping them to thrive in a post-Service career.
Our funding will help the DSVF to support students through their chosen subject as well as offering placement opportunities, mentoring and help with CV writing. We’ll be sharing our vast knowledge of all aspects of facilities management across the Defence estate and in turn, drawing on their skills and experience of the Armed Forces to improve our service delivery.
