We’re proud to support our brave and courageous Service personnel, not only in the work we do within our Defence contracts, but also with our fundraising and volunteering.
In 2016, we entered into a charity partnership with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, chosen because it encompasses all three of the Services. We made a huge commitment to raise £250,000 within the five years of our contracts and wondered if we’d set our sights too high but this month we’re absolutely delighted to have passed the £200,000 mark with our fundraising.
Achieving this monumental milestone has only been possible thanks to the generosity of our employees and supply chain partners. Over the last three years, they’ve supported SSAFA’s Big Brew Up, climbed mountains, trekked across rocky terrains, held family fun days, made epic journeys on bicycles and taken part in raffles and fundraising events. Two of our senior managers have even become SSAFA mentors themselves so they can offer practical support and guidance to those leaving the Services and struggling with the transition from military to civilian life.
Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, said: “We would like to say an enormous thank you to Amey for its support since it became one of our corporate partners. Due to its efforts, through employee fundraising and attending our special events, Amey has raised £200,000 in aid of SSAFA over the past three years; that is a phenomenal and rather humbling achievement. The money raised goes directly towards funding SSAFA’s mentoring service, which supports service leavers and their families as they settle back into civilian life. Thanks to Amey’s commitment, we can continue to provide this service to those who need it most.”
Tim Redfern, Amey’s Director of Defence, added: “We are immensely proud to be able to support SSAFA and in turn, our Armed Forces and their families. The commitment and passion shown by our people to reach our fundraising goals is truly humbling and motivates us even more to support the military community we work alongside.”
