The team at the Traffic Scotland National Control Centre would like to say a massive thank you to all of our Twitter followers, all 100,000 of you!
Since the start of September we have been campaigning to reach this incredible goal, with the aim to push our travel reports and advice to as many of Scotland’s road users as possible.
The Traffic Scotland service provides real time information on the trunk road network and this achievement has brought us closer to our overall goal of getting our real time information to a wider audience.
We are the only service of its kind in Scotland and are proud of how we interact with our audience, the high quality and reliable information we provide for live incidents, weather alerts, roadworks and large events. We will continue to grow and develop the service and look forward to making this journey with you and hearing your ideas and feedback along the way.
Transport Minister, Derek Mackay said:
“This is a tremendous milestone for Traffic Scotland and testament to the excellent service that it provides for Scotland’s road users.
“It is especially relevant as we head into the Winter season, where real-time travel information is particularly valuable to allow us all to plan our journeys in response to the sometimes changeable weather conditions.
“Social media is constantly evolving and we will do all we can to make sure that that Traffic Scotland continues to keep up with developments to meet the needs of motorists on Scotland’s trunk roads.”
Traffic Scotland spokesperson Patricia Wiggins said:
“We are delighted to mark this achievement, which has brought us closer to our overall goal of getting our real time information to a wider audience.
