Who, What and How?

We’re after people who care as much as we do

We’re passionate about ‘doing what we say we will’. We have high standards when it comes to providing the best services and experiences for our customers. Not only that, we also take pride in doing business ethically and sustainably, and in creating positive change for the communities we serve. If you do what you say you will, want to make an impact and believe in providing excellent service, then we want to hear from you.

We’re looking for self-starters

We want people who will take personal pride in public service by contributing to improvements and innovation. We give our people the freedom to perform, promoting original thinking and provide a culture where everyone is empowered to make their own decisions and take responsibility for implementing their ideas, whether small or large.

We embrace difference

We’re all individuals, yet very much one, united team. We have unique backgrounds and personalities, which means we all bring different ideas to the table which makes us stronger and more engaged as a collective. We know we can still do more to support and celebrate inclusion, and we’re always looking for new ways to welcome people from all walks of life.

Whatever your subject, we want to hear from you

We offer brilliant opportunities for people with engineering degrees, but we also need great accountants, communicators, estimators, environmentalists – almost any career path you can think of.

What can we offer you?

Working with us is always exciting and rewarding. We offer a great place to work where we empower you to achieve your personal and professional goals, working alongside people who care about your development as well as your wellbeing.

There will be experiences as original as you are in a career that can feel like many rolled into one. We’ll give you the chance to shine, whether that’s contributing to some of the most important projects in the country, learning new skills or simply working with a great group of people every day.

You’ll be given the freedom to perform so your work can make a positive contribution to our communities and you can be proud of what you do.

We never compromise on safety. Health and safety – for us and our customers – is embedded in our working environment and we all take personal and collective responsibility for it. This mind-set is an essential part of the way we work at every level of the business, working together to ensure everyone can go home safely, every day.

We’ll pay you a competitive starting salary, and if you perform well, we’ll give you a pay rise every six months whilst on the graduate programme. At the end of the programme you can expect to progress into the next level of your chosen career.

The benefits you’ll receive include generous annual leave, a contributory pension scheme and life insurance. Our flexible benefits scheme, Amey Choices, offers great money-saving deals. Save on everything from your weekly shopping, to movie tickets and weekends away. You can also opt to buy or sell annual leave, join the cycle to work scheme and get discounted gym memberships.

Graduate FAQs

If your question isn’t answered here, please get in touch by emailing or call us on 01865 713 101.

What is the deadline for applications?

We recruit graduates all year round and set a closing date for each vacancy when it is advertised. We may close the vacancy sooner than the advertised date if we receive a maximum number of applications - our advice is to apply as soon as possible.

How do I apply for a graduate vacancy?

Click on the 'Apply now' button and search through the advertised roles. To find out more information about a specific role, select it and you will be given the option to apply. If you are a new user, you will be asked to register your details.

Can I apply for more than one role?

Yes. Check our current vacancies and submit an application for any positions that suit your skills.

Can I apply for the position if the closing date has passed?

Sorry but no. Please check our current vacancies for other roles to avoid missing out on future opportunities.

Can I apply for a position in the UK if I need a work permit?

Everyone is asked for evidence of their right to live and work in the UK, by providing either a UK/EU passport or a work permit. We are not able to offer support in obtaining work permits except in very rare cases of critical skills shortages.

If I'm not successful this time, can I apply again?

Yes of course. All candidates are encouraged to apply again if and when a suitable role arises. Please check our current vacancies for other jobs and sign up for our Job Alerts.

How does the interview process work?

Our interview process is based on the requirements of the role. We use competency-based interviewing, psychometric testing and assessment centres, plus a variety of other selection tools where appropriate. It sounds scary but we promise it isn’t. We will give you details of the format when we invite you for an interview.

How long does the selection process take?

There is no fixed timeframe for the selection process. But we do understand the pressures of looking for work and we’ll do everything we can to make the selection process as fast as possible for you.

Is there a Refer-a-Friend scheme?

Yes. If one of our team recommends you and you’re successful, they could get up to £1,000 – as long as they’re not part of the selection process.
