Giving Back

Giving back starts with our employees – we give them the freedom and opportunities that make life better at work and at home. But we don’t stop there. We also put a lot of effort into helping our people give back too.

From matching the donations of Amey fundraisers, to paying our employees to volunteer for the day, we work with our people to be a genuine force for positive change. We believe we can create a huge social impact in communities across the UK, both at work and beyond.

Being the better means leaving behind a positive footprint and making a change for good.

Get paid to do the right thing

Every year our employees can take a paid day’s leave to volunteer. We call these Community Involvement Days and you can spend yours as a team or on your own.

As long as your chosen activity is run by a not-for-profit or an organisation that supports the local economy, environment, education or employment, we’ll pay you to support them for the day.

Here for young people everywhere

We don’t just reach out to the young people among our ranks, or in the schools we maintain, but to all young people across the country itching to unleash their potential. That’s why we help fund the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, which unlocks new avenues for young people from all backgrounds.

"The sections of the DofE encourage young people to discover for themselves the satisfaction of giving back to society through volunteering; of developing new skills; of taking part in a physical activity; and the pleasure of discovering the countryside or the sea by planning and executing a challenging expedition.

These experiences teach more general lessons and serve as a practical demonstration of what can be achieved through determination and persistence. In an age where employment opportunities are scarce, these skills easily translate into the world of work, boosting young people’s career prospects."

Changing communities together

We’re a huge organisation and we believe we should drive social change where possible. We aim to always spend more on social enterprises and in recent years, these have become a larger and larger proportion of our supplier list.

Alone, Amey makes a huge impact, but together with like-minded businesses that make their communities a better place, there’s no limit to the difference we can make.
