In Amey Consulting the focus of our Data Science and Analytics offering is the practical difference information can make. We help our clients to extract insight from their data driving better decisions that deliver tangible value against both financial and non-financial goals.

To make this happen, our team is not only a group of experts in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Some of the solutions we develop for our clients bring in cutting-edge technology from fields such as computer vision and deep learning where it makes the difference. Equally, we have worked with clients unlocking huge process improvements through new uses of data that were about introducing data into decisions in the right place with relatively simple data processing. Past solutions we have delivered are embedded in the everyday operation of the UK rail and road networks.

The key to success is that our team of data scientists and data analysts will work with you starting from the challenges of your organisation rather than from the data. Together we will identify and prove out the innovations which will make the biggest difference. We are used to looking at new ways of approaching business problems such as data-enhanced works prioritisation, scheduling, risk assessment, condition monitoring, operational optimisation and workforce planning.

Whatever the challenges faced by your organisation where data can help, our team is your partner for data-led improvement. Please take a look at the examples in our case studies.

Our People

Joel Lindop Partner DS&A

Joel leads our Data Science and Analysis offering. He is passionate about transforming information into insight to solve practical problems. Following a PhD in information science Joel's first steps outside academia were in computational modelling of carbon markets, advising governmental organisation such as the European Commission, financial organisations including many major banks and large utilities

Anca Chereches

Anca specialises in data analysis and business intelligence. She has worked closely with infrastructure clients in utilities, highways and rail, improving performance against contractual and internal KPI's and regulatory targets through advanced data processing, modelling and evidence based redesign of business processes and polices

Sam Brown

Sam has worked across the water, rail and highways sectors and leads our capability in the exploration of new algorithms. He joined Amey following a PhD in geometric group theory and has been at the heart of Amey's cutting-edge work in rail performance analytics, developing new methods for the analysis of train movements to inform operational decision making. Sam's insights are embedded in Amey's rail data services, including the Quartz dashboard used daily by thousands of Network Rail staff
