We’re looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice to join our team working out of one of our Railway Consulting offices. You will be working on a variety of Engineering schemes for Network Rail and the other railway clients, whilst simultaneously studying for a level 3 qualification.
What will this role involve?
The role will involve working in the exciting and dynamic environment of an engineering consultancy office, learning the skills necessary to become a mechanical engineer, as well as specialist skills needed for working in the rail industry. Your training will be through a combination of on the job mentorship and regular release to a nearby specialist college, where you will initially study for a level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering. Your combined work place training and initial education will form a strong base to allow you to work towards further qualifications with Amey. You will learn about industry standards and codes of practice, as well as taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public.
Specific duties may include:
• Assisting in the preparation of technical drawings and reports
• Preparing electrical calculations in accordance with relevant codes of practice
• Carrying out site surveys
• Attend project meetings
• Preparing safety documentation for site and survey works
• Manipulating 3D models and software
• Attending safety briefings
• Submitting close calls

• 4 GCSE's (or equivalent) in English, Maths, Science and one other (grades 4-9) and Science A*- C
