The Amey Apprenticeship Programme
Our Amey Apprenticeship Programme provides all of the skills, experience and support required to kick start your career, or to branch out in a new direction! From the beginning of your programme you’ll have full exposure to all elements of your chosen role, giving you the best opportunity to learn from experience. Whilst working, you’ll undertake a nationally recognised qualification; providing the theoretical background to your work. At Amey we strongly support the development of our people; we therefore offer you a permanent contract from day one.
At Amey we work closely with the Isle of Wight Council delivering waste and environmental services across the Island. Our responsibilities include kerbside collections, managing household waste recycling centres and waste treatment. We are currently working with the council to construct a state of the art waste and recycling treatment plant in Newport. In this role you will support this prestigious work by providing Business Administration Support to our team.
What will this role involve?
As a Business Support Apprentice you will gain exposure to all elements of an office based environment supporting our work on the Isle of Wight. Working a busy team you will primarily be responsible for the following:
- Supporting the delivery scheduling of service orders
- Raising purchase orders
- General administration tasks as required by the team
- Processing travel expenses
- Scheduling other works
- Running reports using Microsoft applications
- Inbox management
Alongside your hands-on work we will provide you with a dedicated mentor who will not only develop you in the office but also support you in your completion of an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration.
If you really want to challenge yourself we also offer all eligible Apprentices the opportunity to undertake their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

You’ll also have:
- GCSEs in English and Maths
- Commitment to studying towards an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration
- Excellent teamwork skills
- A willingness to learn and keen to progress
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks
- Great attention to detail
Training will be provided on systems as required, however a previous knowledge or use of Microsoft Excel, Word or Outlook would be beneficial.
