Amey 2for2 Challenge
To celebrate our second partnership with Cancer Research UK (CRUK), we have launched our Amey 2for2 Challenge fundraising initiative, which is open to all Amey employees.
We hope the Amey 2for2 Challenge can help raise a target of £22,000 from the two-(working) week campaign in October, contributing toward our two-year target of £200,000 for CRUK.
Participating team members should base their challenge around the number 2; so, 2, 20, 200, 2,000, 20,000 or 200,000, etc. This can be anything from a two-hour sponsored silence to a 20k run – all in aid of our charity partnership with CRUK.
To activate your fundraising activity, please complete the following steps.
- Identify your fundraising activity in-keeping with the Amey 2for2 Challenge theme (i.e., involving a 2).
- Register your fundraising activity using our Amey form here: Amey 2for2 Challenge registration form
- Set-up your CRUK online Team (applicable to a group or individual fundraisers) page here: The Amey 2 For 2 Challenge (fundraising site)
For remote workers, or if you cannot access the registration links above, please speak with your site / line manager or your local Charity Champion for assistance.
The Amey 2for2 Challenge fundraising period is from 9 - 20 October 2023.

The Early Careers Challenge 2023 has finished!
Open to Amey employees who are under 25 and in the Early Careers community this is an exciting opportunity for those in the early stages of their careers to work on their personal and professional development and enhance important skills, as well as being able to grow their profile across the business and network with key stakeholders.
What is the challenge?
Launched on 28 June, the gauntlet was thrown down to seven teams to develop and deliver inventive and exciting ideas to raise as much money as possible for CRUK. During the kick-off event, CRUK shared the how and why this support makes such a huge difference. Teams had 6 weeks to complete the Challenge...
It’s all over! £19,574 RAISED!
Amey and Cancer Research UK (CRUK) are incredibly proud of the 39 Apprentices, Graduates, Placement Students and Under 25s who participated in this year’s Early Careers Challenge.
The participants pushed themselves beyond their limits in a variety of individual and team challenges, smashing their fundraising target (by a very healthy amount!) and raising vital funds for CRUK. Their collective total achieved was a staggering £19,654.24 and continues to rise after the finish line…
This group has proven themselves to be creative, challenge-embracing and team-focused, displaying great drive and ingenuity throughout.

Social Value, CRUK, and Early Careers teams
Our employee chosen charity partnership...
Our objectives are:
- to raise awareness of the disease – we will be sharing information, considering lifestyle choices and providing access to support if necessary
- to fundraise – we will be having fun and getting active to fundraise for the charity, with every pound going towards beating cancer
- to support employees volunteering – we will be providing opportunities to get out into the community and volunteer for the charity
Over the next two years, 100% of the funds you raise will go directly to vital research focused on catching cancer earlier. Spotting cancer at an early stage means that treatment is more likely to be successful.
We have a number of exciting events to get involved with over the coming months that we can’t wait to tell you about, but for now, there are some fantastic initiatives for you to get involved with:
- Sign up to Race for Life at raceforlife.org and get 50% off the entry fee, please email sue.racster@amey.co.uk for the discount code.
- For a quick and easy way to give, sign up to Pennies From Heaven and donate the extra pennies from your payslip here.
Please remember to share a photo on social media and donate using our new partnership fundraising page
Pennies From Heaven
Pennies From Heaven is a way to donate the pennies from your payslip to charity every time you are paid.
How it works?
- Each month your salary is rounded down to nearest pound and donated to Cancer Research UK. Example: if net pay was £850.34 then 34p would be donated.
- The most you’d ever give is 99p per month – and the least is 0p per month!
- 100% of donations will be received by CRUK and will be used help in the fight against cancer. Plus, HMRC will add 25% at no cost.
- The average total is £6 a year – this would buy 150 test tubes to be used in cancer-fighting experiments.
Sign up to Pennies From Heaven. You'll find the link in our quick links to the right.
People managers of frontline workers can download our poster and a paper copy of the sign up form here.
Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a simple and tax-effective way to support charity directly through your salary.
How it works?
- It's also known as Give As You Earn (GAYE).
- Your donation is deducted before tax, meaning a £10 donation will only cost you £8 if you're a standard rate taxpayer. And even less if you're a higher rate taxpayer.
- You can choose how much money you donate monthly and can choose to donate to a number of different charities.
- Donating just £8 a month means that over the year, CRUK can buy 500 petri dishes, to grow and study cancer cells.
You can sign up to Payroll Giving via ESS. You must be logged into the network to access the employee HR portal with your username and password.
Once there, click on 'Employee Self Service', then 'Choices' and 'Anytime Choices Enrolment.' Select 'Dependents and Beneficiaries' and then edit the 'Charity organisation' to Cancer Research UK (or your preferred charity).
Make sure you save and then click back before clicking on the 'Home and lifestyles' tab. Here you will see the 'Give to Charity' option as part of your choices benefits. From here, you can edit the amount you want to donate per month. Remember to click save when you've finished.
