Mapping out your career
Amey’s Career Path Framework has been designed to give people at Amey better opportunities to progress and develop their careers.
See the opportunities clearly
To help people grow at Amey we make it as easy as possible for to see the breath of opportunity potentially available to them. We’ve done this by categorising our wide range of jobs (over 700) into 15 job families.
This is what we call our Career Path Framework. Descriptions are published for each job so people can compare them with similar roles in their job family, as well as other job families. This helps to give everyone across Amey a broader view of what their next steps could be.
Drive your career
This one day course is open to all employees. It trains people to manage their own career paths and how they can take control and responsibility for them.
The course is part of Amey’s philosophy that we will help you to drive your own career, but it is in your hands.
More than one direction
We understand people want to take different approaches.
If you want to take a professional ‘pathway’ we support people with professional subscriptions in many areas (e.g. Finance, Engineering, HR, Procurement, Facilities Management) and encourage specialist knowledge sharing and professional networks across Amey.
Some people might want to broaden experience, rather than push for progression. We help them with Amey’s career maps. These show that pathways are not necessarily upwards and highlights moves to gain more experience.
Other people might want to change professional path and our mentoring and shadowing programmes help them do this. You are matched with someone in the area you are interested in so you can build a relationship with them to understand what’s involved.
Plot your course
Our Career Path Framework and career maps provide a clear structure for people so they can see where they can go and what they need to focus on in order to make that next step or move.
