What’s your greatest professional achievement?
I have had many proud moments in my professional career from qualifying as a solicitor, to completing large and complex transactions and of course being promoted to Group Legal Director at Amey. But the best moments are when you know you have made a difference, that your contribution is valued and that someone genuinely appreciates your support.
What advice would you have given yourself 20 years ago?
To listen to others and to realise you can learn so much from everyone around you. And that listening and hearing are two very different skills!
What’s the best thing about working at Amey?
The people. Having spent many years in a law firm it was quite a shock when I joined Amey and found myself surrounded by non-lawyers. I realised I had a lot to learn from everyone in the business, but also that I was learning from the best people in the industry. We have a great culture at Amey and that’s because of our people.
What are your priorities in your new role?
To improve on our internal processes across the business, to become more efficient in how we manage our contracts and to ensure that our people are kept safe and are equipped to deliver high quality and innovative services.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I spend my free time with friends and family. I also like to run, play netball, travel and bake (I make some pretty good chocolate brownies…so I’m told!).
