What’s your greatest professional achievement?

Leading Amey Investments and establishing a successful team in bidding and winning projects. This has made a substantial contribution to our success. I am proud of the organisation I work for and proud of my team who are a bright and diverse group of individuals.

What advice would you have given yourself 20 years ago?

Whatever I do, I approach it with passion and intensity but recognise when to play a “measured long game”. To engage and bring others along with you is an important skill. As a leader, success is delivered through other people.

What’s the best thing about working at Amey?

Our success and our story. Our company has a great history, a secure base and a bright future. I enjoy being part of that heritage and success. What we do is often not that visible, however it impacts greatly on communities and people’s lives It is our purpose and priority to create better places for people to live, work and travel.

What are your priorities for the next five years?

Our core markets are ripe for disruption and change. In the next five years we will see driverless transport, faster communications, a digital railway and environmental challenges. I would like us to be a first follower in some of these areas of change in our society and markets.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I love travelling and visiting the world. I am a regular gym goer for my sins. I’m a social animal and enjoy the company of my work colleagues, family and friends. And I can't sit still!
