MD FM Defence and Justice

What is your greatest professional achievement?

I believe it’s what you leave behind that’s a measure of your success and that people remember you for having made a positive impact. I’m proud to say in each of my roles, I’ve always strengthened the position of each business. Whether that’s been financially, improving safety, delivering growth, or developing talent and enabling people to achieve their ambitions.

What advice would you have given yourself 20 years ago?

Measure yourself against your own goals and values, not those of others, and be proud to talk about your achievements, don’t wait to be praised. This is something women are often reluctant to do.

What are your priorities in your role?

It’s an exciting time to be part of Amey, as we embark on our journey to realise our five-year strategy. Our markets are not only growing, but continually evolving, and expectations from society and customers are greater - with more focus on outcomes that deliver true value. This gives us a great opportunity to create better solutions that meet these demands.

I’m looking forward to helping shape the future of our FM, Defence and Justice businesses and Amey as a whole. The key to our success will be to realise the full potential of our people, rewarding success, building on and extending the breadth of our capabilities and delivering for our customers.

What motivates you to come to work?

To do a challenging job well every day, I have to be doing something that has meaning, something that impacts people in a positive way. I also need to have fun at the same time and enjoy doing it!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I used to be a competitive triathlete and I still enjoy the swimming, cycling and running – but these days not all at the same time!
