Andy Milner - Chief Executive Officer

Andy Milner is the Chief Executive Officer of Amey, and previously was Managing Director of Amey’s Consulting & Strategic Infrastructure division. He has ultimate responsibility for growth, performance and delivery of corporate strategies for Amey. 

Andy began his career as a civil engineer working on the design and construction of highway and bridge projects. He joined Owen Williams in 1997 specifically working on the assessment, design and strengthening of bridges. He progressed to a senior position with responsibility for all major projects including the 2005 BCIA winner, M1 Tinsley viaduct strengthening and the M6 Toll and a range of other major projects in the UK and overseas.

In 2006 Owen Williams was acquired by Amey, Andy took responsibility for the Highways business stream in the new consultancy and 2008 he was appointed as Managing Director of Amey Consulting. He has built this business to one which now provides engineering and technical consultancy into the Highways, Rail, Aviation, Building, Energy, Technology and Environmental sectors. In 2010 the extraordinary growth and success of the Consulting business was recognised by winning the prestigious accolade NCE/ ACE Major Consultant of the Year. In 2012, Andy also took responsibility for Amey’s rail business, a major national UK operation which provides Electrification, Track and Project delivery as well as operation and maintenance expertise to UK Rail and Metro Clients.

Andy has led some of Amey’s significant successes including the bid for Sheffield Highways PFI, a £2bn contract awarded to Amey in 2012, the creation of a roadside technology business which dominates the UK market and the development of a fully integrated, whole life asset management business model that differentiates Amey in the UK and International markets. He is an advocate for change and innovation and focuses on success through the development of teams and capability.

Andy is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution Of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. He is also an Executive Committee member of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, IABSE.
