New South Wales Public Service Awards 2015
Two years since we started, the innovative contract that we are delivering with our Australian partners scooped a major award at the New South Wales (NSW) Public Service Awards 2015. Our Sydney contract won the Premier’s award for strengthening the economy and making NSW a better place to do business. The win was not just down to the contract model that our client developed, but how successfully it was implemented by Amey and our partners.
Speaking about the win, Kamini Choudhry, our Operations Director in Australia said: “Establishing Amey in Australia has been nearly three years of very hard work and commitment by a small, but ever-growing team of Amey employees. Reaching a milestone like this is a huge achievement for us all, our partners and our client.
“Having worked tirelessly to ensure the successful delivery of our client’s innovative contract model, we’re all very proud of this result. It simply couldn’t have been achieved without the strong relationships and common vision shared by everyone on the Sydney South Zone team.”
Amey in Australia
In 2013 the Queensland and New South Wales governments outsourced roads maintenance for the first time. The new contracting method for road maintenance service providers changed the way that their roads are maintained, introducing efficiencies and cost savings.
Our Australian partners undertook a global search for a world-leading asset management and highway maintenance organisation to help them secure the opportunities presented by both governments. They chose us and together we won the largest roads contract of its kind in the southern hemisphere – a seven-year contract worth around £415m.
Amey works in joint venture with Ventia (previously Leighton Contractors) and Boral.
