Amey in America
In summer 2014 Amey was appointed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to manage and maintain the major interstate highways in and around Dallas, Texas.
Working in Joint Venture with our Ferrovial sister company, Webber, the $19m contract sees us operate the routes that connect the three biggest cities in Texas, linking Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. We’ve been commissioned for an initial two year period but the opportunity exists for up to four years of extensions.
This strategic highways maintenance contract brings together Amey’s bidding and maintenance management expertise, including our strong track record in health and safety, with Webber providing labour, plant and materials.
Webber is a subsidiary of Ferrovial Agroman and is one of the largest road construction groups in Texas. Together with Amey’s long and proud history of highways network management we provided a compelling bid for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Through the contract we manage and maintain all of the highways assets including intersections, bridges and hard shoulders, as well as verges and picnic areas. Routine maintenance activities and our services will include removing litter and debris, carrying out preventative road repairs, traffic management, and landscape activities. We will also assess the condition of the network and use Asset Management principles to support TxDOT in maximising the whole life value of its highway assets.
