Our Amey Apprenticeship Programme provides all of the skills, experience and support required to kick start your career, or to branch out in a new direction! From the beginning of your programme you’ll have full exposure to all elements of your chosen role, giving you the best opportunity to learn from experience. Whilst working, you’ll undertake a nationally recognised qualification; providing the theoretical background to your work. At Amey we strongly support the development of our people; we therefore offer you a permanent contract from day one.
We currently provide total facilities management to Ministry of Justice Custodial Estates across the UK. Drawing on our expertise we provide a tailored, responsive and resilient service which supports the MOJ in maintaining safe, secure and enhanced estates. In this Apprenticeship position you will be a pivotal member of the team maintaining the estate at Her Majesty’s Full Sutton Prison in Yorkshire.
What will this role involve?
As an Electrical Apprentice you will gain full exposure to a variety of electrical maintenance and repair works. Working as a team you will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and planned repairs around the site, alongside performing checks and inspections, ensuring a consistent high quality of electrical services. You may occasionally have the opportunity to work on refits and installations. Alongside your work you will also undertake your NVQ Level 3 in Electrical maintenance.

You’ll also have:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) Grades A*C
- Commitment to studying towards your NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance
- Excellent teamwork skills
- A willingness to learn and keen to progress
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks
Due to the high security environment all applicants must be over the age of 18, with a sensible attitude and a basic understanding of health and safety. The successful applicant will need to undertake a CTC (Counter Terrorism Check) and an Enhanced Police Check.
