We are a people business and everything we do is achieved by our employees. Our future success is determined by the quality and success of our people and their skills.
We recognise that to successfully drive and sustain growth in the business, we must have an efficient and engaged workforce. We are therefore committed to investing in our people so they can realise their potential. This is a fundamental part of our business strategy.
We are proud of our Investors in People Gold Award and Champion status and that according to our latest employee survey, 80% of our 21,000 employees felt positive about working for Amey.
Learning and development
In June 2010, we launched our Amey Academy, which offers employees an innovative and exciting approach to developing themselves and their careers. It serves as a point of access for a wide range of training resources that allows people to learn and develop skills in ways that suit them. Our Academy is available online and provides employees with access to over 100 training modules.
We have pledged to work towards having 3% of our employees enrolled into one of our three emerging talent programmes:
- Amey Apprenticeship Academy
- Management Graduate and Pathway Graduate Programme
- Talent Tracker scheme - identifies talented individuals who could be suitable for more senior roles in the organisation.
Engagement, wellbeing, reward and recognition
Our network of engagement champions encourage their colleagues to be active and engaged with all facets of sustainability. Employee engagement is measured through our annual employee survey and quarterly pulse surveys, which ask questions aligned to our six corporate objectives.
Inclusion (equality and diversity)
We believe service is best provided when the differing needs of people and communities are recognised. It is vital that the members of our diverse workforce, including our suppliers, are enabled to contribute in their own different ways within a framework of shared values and goals. To achieve this we have established an Inclusion Steering Group with representatives from all parts of the business.
