Amey’s Target Zero campaign and safety initiatives within our rail business were giving a ringing endorsement by our industry peers last week – as we were announced winners of the Workforce Safety Award at the UK Rail Industry Awards.

The glitzy awards in London saw recognition given to the best in the industry, celebrating excellence and innovation. We received four nominations in total and also sponsored the Infrastructure Planning award.

The award reflected our approach to safety in the workplace and how we improve the working environment for our colleagues. Since implementing Target Zero, our Accident Incident Rate has dropped to its lowest level since 2001.

Rob Doyle, HSEQ Director for Consulting and Strategic Infrastructure (ConSI), the division in which the Rail business sits, said: “This is a fantastic award which truly recognises our commitment to safety at all levels of our organisation. We should all be proud of this achievement.

He added: “Our journey towards zero harm continues and I encourage everybody to keep this focus moving forward.”
